Noisy Neurons, Neat Networks

چکیده
In this issue of Neuron, Kiani et al. (2015) show that the correlated activity of multiple simultaneously recorded neurons can be used to identify, in a completely un-biased manner, distinct functional domains within prefrontal and (pre)motor cortex of macaque monkeys.

Evolving neural fields for problems with large input and output spaces
We have developed an extension of the NEAT neuroevolution method, called NEATfields, to solve problems with large input and output spaces. The NEATfields method is a multilevel neuroevolution method using externally specified design patterns. Its networks have three levels of architecture. The highest level is a NEAT-like network of neural fields. The intermediate level is a field of identical ...
متن کاملNoisy Spiking Neurons with Temporal Coding have more Computational Power than Sigmoidal Neurons
We exhibit a novel way of simulating sigmoidal neural nets by networks of noisy spiking neurons in temporal coding. Furthermore it is shown that networks of noisy spiking neurons with temporal coding have a strictly larger computational power than sigmoidal neural nets with the same number of units.
متن کاملUsing NEAT to Evolve Cooperation and Intelligence in Game Theory Problems
The goal of our study was to see if neural networks would cooperate with each other in two different game theory problems. We replicated a study entitled “Cooperation and the Evolution of Intelligence” by Luke McNally, Sam P. Brown and Andrew L. Jackson, however we evolved the neural networks with NEAT instead of a genetic algorithm. The neural networks would play every other individual in the ...

In this paper, two kinds of chaotic neural networks are proposed to evaluate the efficiency of chaotic dynamics in robust pattern recognition. The First model is designed based on natural selection theory. In this model, attractor recurrent neural network, intelligently, guides the evaluation of chaotic nodes in order to obtain the best solution. In the second model, a different structure of ch...
متن کاملEmergent Oscillations in Networks of Stochastic Spiking Neurons
Networks of neurons produce diverse patterns of oscillations, arising from the network's global properties, the propensity of individual neurons to oscillate, or a mixture of the two. Here we describe noisy limit cycles and quasi-cycles, two related mechanisms underlying emergent oscillations in neuronal networks whose individual components, stochastic spiking neurons, do not themselves oscilla...
